The 200 year Celebration and Reunion started with a beautiful church service, and a photo taken by the local newspaper. The caption reads, "Family meets after 200 years"

Welcome to Bjerregaard!

Birthe Bjerregaard Byrjalsen, Soren Byrjalsen, Inger Marie Liingaard, Eilif Bjerregaard, Karen Margrethe Ebbe had worked day and night to make this event perfect for everyone. Thank you very much to our hosts.

6 Utah Danish-Americans rented a VW van. We drove from Copenhagen airport towards Jutland. It seemed like we were on the road forever. We realize that we are close to Bjerregaard "the family farm", when we passed the foulum church. This was the church that our ancestors, Anders and Bodil were married in. We drove a little ways past a beautiful thatched roof cottage and made a left turn at a stop sign.

We drove around a slight bend, over a small hill, and...

The next thing that we see this large beautiful Danish flag... then, we see what we so longed for.. "Bjerregaard". We were already tearing up, but now we all start to cry.

(We are thinking about the last image of "Bjerregaard" that Anders, Bodil and children saw before their incredible journey to Utah. Keep in mind that No Utah Bjerregaard had been back from that day on)

We make a left turn onto a small dirt road and I can't see where I am driving because I am crying to hard...

We see our sweet, sweet Danish family in the yard. Birthe comes running towards our car. I stop the van, open the door and run to hug her.

As dramatic as this sounds, I am in tears reliving this memory. I am so thankful for this incredible experience. I will never forget this as long as I live.

I wish that every family member I have, could have lived this experience...
