February 15th - Karin gave birth to a big boy - 54 cm and 4950 gram (21.2598425 inches, 174.606112 ounces says Google - quite accurate eh)

His name is Gustav - named after Birthe Bjerregaard Byrjalsen's father. The birth went ok - not well, but ok. He is a big boy, and Karin had problems. She went in to surgery after he was born, leaving Christian and Gustav alone. Luckily she was ok - and there were nothing wrong with her!

On the way back to Esbjerg, to get the boat back to England Sonja and Richard Cole drove straight out to the west coast of Denmark, then down the coast, passing a little place called Bjerregaard. See Sonja next to the sign.

Lærke Byrjalsen the daughter of Karin Larsen and Christian Byrjalsen was christened. She is growing very well her father tells me. 63 cm (24.8 inches) - and weighs 7 kg (15.43 lbs)

Birgit and Niels Peter's son was born Sunday, February 11th 2007 at 11:08pm. 55 cm (21.65 inches) and 3918 gram (8.64 lbs).

Lærke

Karin and Christian are celebrating the birth of their daughter Lærke. Born at 2:54am, Monday morning October 23rd to be exact. She is 3050 grams (6.72lbs) - and 50 cm (19.69 inches).

Stavnsgaard in Stistrup

This is the farm That the Thomasen side of the family built. This is the location where Bodil Kirstine Thomasdatter and my Bodil Marie Thomasdatter and quite possibly Morten Thomsen was born (the maternal site) The farm is not far from Bjerregaard.

The 200 year Celebration and Reunion started with a beautiful church service, and a photo taken by the local newspaper. The caption reads, "Family meets after 200 years"

Birthe Bjerregaard Byrjalsen, Soren Byrjalsen, Inger Marie Liingaard, Eilif Bjerregaard, Karen Margrethe Ebbe had worked day and night to make this event perfect for everyone. Thank you very much to our hosts.

How did this all happen?

Shon Bjerregaard creates a website in 2002. Shon finds Karen Bjerreggard's email address on the internet and emails her to see if they were related. Bjarne Damsgaard, her husband answers the email and through time they both discover that they are related. Bjarne tells Helle Nielsen about the website. Helle is related on the female side "Thomassen". Helle emails Shon and shares loads and loads of family information. Helle introduces Shon to Birthe Byrjalsen and Christian Byrjalsen, and Birthe holds off the 200 year celebration of the family farm, so that we can all share the event. We go to Denmark and the rest is now history.

This is a picture of Randi nee Bjerregaard and Svend Lykkegaard Jensen celebrating 65 years together. The celebration was for lunch for 36 people in a hotel in Farsø, Denmark. Let us all wish them many, many more happy years together.

In Denmark it is a tradition to put up an arch made with evergreen and flowers outside the front door on the occasion of weddings, silver weddings etc. This Picture of Randi nee Bjerregaard and Svend Lykkegaard Jensen on their 65th wedding anniversary.

In this picture are the only two children of Elly Bjerregaard Nielsen and Gustav Haldrup Nielsen. Ingermarie Liingaard on the left and Bithe Byrjalsen on the right. I love this picture, I think through their obvious affection for each other, it represents the family in whole. The love that we have for all things Bjerregaard. That our family means so much to each of us. We even have love in our hearts for the family members that we haven't even met. Thank you to Christian and the DK branch for sending me such great photos.
